독후감) Weapons of math destruction

 

The author of the book, Cathy O'Neill, tried to solve the world's problems with the logic and beauty of mathematics. Defying her will, however, she witnessed the inequality brought by AI, which makes her accuse the reality by this book.

I am an average engineer who writes simple codes as a personal hobby. Financial algorithms or artificial intelligence algorithms seem to belong to the different world than mine. The author was one of those works on the other side. I thank her for revealing what is going on up there.

The shock was that mathematical models are not rigorously defined and based on the data set that was not directly correlated. Moreover, the author blamed the attitude of companies stuck to the number output that came from the mathematical models beyond reality.

I look forward to the system that raises substantial changes to companies or governmental institutes for transparency of AI algorithms.
